GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, and HSDPA/HSUPA service support
GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, and HSDPA/HSUPA are add-on data services to Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) mobile phone networks. The maximum theoretical data speeds when connected on these services are:
• High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA)—up to 7.2 Megabits per second (Mbps)
• High Speed Upload Packet Access (HSUPA)—up to 2.0 Mbps
• Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS)— 384 kilobits per second (kbps)
• Enhanced Data GSM Environment (EDGE)—236 kbps
• General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)—56 kbps
GPRS and EDGE are second generation (2G) data services.
UMTS and HSDPA/HSUPA are 3G data services.
